Bike for beginner female rider

Hi,

My girlfriend wants to start riding and of course has her eye on a F650GS (in blue - its critical that its blue).  She has never ridden and was contemplating getting a cheap, easy to learn, no stress if dropped bike. Someone mentioned the Honda CBR 250 or the like?  Not entirely sure.. Can anyone make a recommendation on what bike I should be looking at?
