On recent trip over naudes neck we discovered 3 things...

1. Don't lend your panniers to anyone travelling over naudes neck
2. especially in winter, when the roads can be covered in ice
and 3. the plastic clips on the back of the panniers ARE as flimsy as they look...  >:D

So after a certain ice sheet we ended up with 2 feet trapped under a borrowed pannier, and a broken clip and bracket. Bracket you can buy from BMW, clip moulded onto case. Got some ideas from F650.com, wasn't really sure where to buy aluminium strip in tiny quantities...

So this is our fix (not our panniers. yet)

(cellphone pic - sorry about the blur)

Got the little steel things at local hardware store, 95c each, just bent them a little less 90degrees. painted them coz they're not stainless
Variety of 6mm nuts and bolts etc ended up costing R10

10min work, fits snuggly over the pannier rack, feels sturdy so far.
No road test yet ???
