mainly while commuting?

My sense is that while there will be increased forces at play on the clutch when pulling away in 2nd on the flat, it shouldn't be significant enough to be a problem. I don't think I'm slipping the clutch anymore than one would when pulling away in 1st.

pulling away in 1st at a traffic lights just sometimes feels a bit inconvenient as one  needs to change up quickly, and quick changes don't feel mechanically sympathetic on a pig......
