Canola Run 2018

Every year Tienie (Johnnie Bok) and his crew organize this NG
Kerk Charity event,

And with the permission of all the farmers in the area, a route is arranged crossing through private land

This year being the 12th year that this event took place.

Strangely , after the worst drought in the Western Cape ,

The NG Kerk must have had rain on back order from all their prayers, which came in bucket loads the week prior the the run.
Which made the ride a little more technical than we were all use to , and with 289 Riders , there were lots of spills and thrills.
Some of us even landed up being treated in Hospitals.

A very Big thanks to Johnnie Bok and his fantastic crew this year, their response to falls were very speedy.
You didn't even get a chance to pick up yr  bike and they were there.
Thanks also for Joey Evans , Ex Amageza Hero , and of late , a Dakar Malle Moto Finisher , for sparing his time to come down and join our event and share his experience with us.

It was a fantastic event.

Ek het lanklaas so lekker gelag vir ouens wat in modder val. Dit was n slagveld!


My claim to fame is that I passed Joey Evans on a slippery downhill.
Granted, he was sightseeing, while I had my race-face on.

it was a REAL adventure - I spent most of  my ride paddling through the mud - don't ask me how but managed to stay upright.
Did get help from 2 gentlemen up a particularly slippery section where bikes were scattered on the ground everywhere.  - thanks guys who every you were.  Was too exhausted to do the second loop.

Dankie vir almal wat kom saam ry het. Jammer dat die paaie meer modderig as gewoonlik was. Ons het ongelukkig geen beheer oor die reën gehad nie! As dit nie vir die modder was nie, sou die pad baie maklik gewees het. Die dag was 'n reuse sukses en almal het baie pret gehad. My foto's volg binne 'n dag of 2.

Was my first Canola run and all I can say is what a great event. Fun route, even more so as it was muddy and slippery.
