14,300km in 39 days, 2 x BMW F800GS motorbikes and Africa!

After countless threats, dares and highly excited window shopping sprees we (Izak Louw and Werner Roux) decided to.. just do it!

In 2009 we converted to adventure biking, went on weekend trips and breakfast runs. Towards the mid 2010 we entertained the idea of a trip to the equator and back.
Beginning of 2011 we started planning by just meeting once a week, gathering data of what we want to do and see.  Around that, with little time and a small budget in mind, we planned the route.  Finally, we are at the point of actually starting "doing". Stuff needs to be purchased, manufactured and prepared...with a very tight budget.

Our trip runs through Botswana, Zambia, then by means of a ferry up on Lake Tanganyika, Tanzania, Uganda, around Lake Victoria into Kenya,
back into Tanzania, somehow through the Serengeti, via Kili to the coast, then Malawi and Mozambique.  Feet on the pegs 30 June 2011.

Feel free to share tips, ideas, what not to do, etc.  We are still having a bit of an issue getting through the Serengeti.  Either by means of a guide or bikes on a truck.
Also, check out our Facebook page.  Seach for Cape Town to Kampala and back - 30 June 2011.  It still needs a bit of meat, but getting there.

Cheers
W
