Could your GPS guide you to jail?

I am asking this for a friend who has recently done a trip with his GPS equipped bike between Three Sisters and Beaufort West, a piece of road with a general speed limit and where average speed enforcement is active.

Could a Law Enforcement Officer demand the contents of the GPS memory to ascertain speed infringement?
