In a lot of pain. Not sure if this was an actual smile. Can’t remeber having anything to smile about

Waiter about 15-20 minutes for a bakkie to make it’s way up to the spot where I fell. The trip down the mountain in in the front seat of a Ford Ranger was torture. Every little bump in the road had me groaning and crying with pain.

My riding buddy Gustav is an ENT and was wonderful at speeding up the process when I arrived at hospital. I was put in a wheelchair and take directly to triage. More importantly, he was responsible for me getting the good drugs intravenously within minutes…

I spent 7 days in hospital. It’s all a bit blurry now but I think 4 of those were in High Care where I was properly drugged 90% of the time. Wasn’t even aware of most of the people coming by to visit me…

Diagnosis was 6 broken ribs with two of the fractures displaced and posing a risk to my lung. Bleeding on the R adrenal gland. Bad contusion on RH upper arm
