As I remember (hopefully correctly) the F650GS does not allow the starter motor to engage during an accidental push of it's engine start button when the engine is already running. (I've tried it out before and absolutely nothing happend when I pushed that button, with the engine idling - was quite happy with BMW's nifty thinking there... 
.) Well today, thousands of kilometers later, I got this weird flickering from the instrument panel lights during idling. The flickering seized after a while but I did, for some strange reason, pressed apon that happy button (to check) and the starter engaged, lights dipping and everything as it shouldn't - that was with the engine running!
Now, where to look for errors? :-\
