What a great riding day. Four riders led by Eric left the n7 one stop at about 10am rode Silent road, Porcelain road to Du Vlei for coffee and then on to Gouda, and Piketberg for lunch. Back via Mooresburg and Malmesbury on dirt.
360 km with great guys. look forward to the next pensioners ride in our own backyard.
A short video may follow

These "around the pot" rides are always nice!

What luck we have in the Western Cape with plenty of safe easy to ride gravel roads ideal for beginners to get to grips with gravel travel. On Friday Eric led a ride out to Piketberg and then up past Koringberg to take a look at one of the drifts across the Berg River, where earlier in the day the canoe marathon competitors had just passed.
The roads offer the beginners a solid base, with in places short distances of lightly loose shale and even a little water.
The only thing to remember is that the same roads after heavy rain turn into great skating rinks.
We rode the Porcelain road a few weeks ago and it was incredidbly snotty. Even the farmers bakkies were sliding around.
Short video taking from the sweepers view.
