EXHAUST DISCOLOURING

Hi Guys

Can any of the fundis tell me why my Leovince pipe is discolouring.
I noticed a small patch last year and it continued to grow.I then had the pipe repacked at Bosson Exhaust a few montha ago but the purple patch continued to grow and get extremely hot.Bosson said the motor might be running too lean so i had a full service and diagnostic done by Alf in Brackenfell.I must say he did a great job as the pig is running lovely and the fuel consumption has improved dramatically but i notice the discolouring is still there and continues to be extremely hot on that section of the pipe.Is there anything to be worried about or is this normal.
