I'm busy installing the (H4) HID kit from Bikegear in my 06 Dakar. I've read all the related posts on WD and Advrider, but besides the usual struggle to find space for the ballast, I have another weirdness - the length of the harness that goes from the relay back to the battery. It's very long - too long!
I know some people have struggled with the 1 ft harness (too short), but mine is 3 ft, which means you end up with an awful ball of PVC-tubed wiring that you have to put somewhere. I'm loath to just roll it up and cable tie it flat, since I'm not sure about heat buildup. Apparently, at startup that harness carries 30,000 V, coming down to 80 at normal operation. I assume that the 30,000 should be a short-lived pulse, so perhaps that's not a big issue?
I have to fit the ballast, relay, this red snake and some other new wires behind the dash - it's getting awfully cramped atch:
Anyone else fitted this with the long harness?
