Love the understated humor of this report ...and the comprehensive detailing, especially of the side entry road...especially since I’m planning to ride it in reverse next month.

Thanks!

It may be trickier to find the route from the other side. I'm not sure. I'd get lost no matter what (that's why I have Lance). Anyway, if you'd like I can send you the gpx track. The same goes for anyone else who's interested.

FYI: If you want to do this the "legal" way, you have to pay a permit fee at Doringkloof either before or after your ride. I can't remember the amount though.

Lekke report!! Enjoyed it all the way and thank you for sharing the route!!

Bioremediation is a good way clean oil contamination / spillage. There is a company called "selfcoat" in Asla businesses park (Strand) that sells a soap that does this. Very cheap comparatively. I've used it and it does work. Also doesn't contaminate the surrounding areas with solvents as degreasers do.

Thanks for a great ride report. Brings back wonderful memories of the side entry route done around the same time.

Great RR soos altyd, maar ek het die deel gemis. Waar was dit ?  :lol8:

Lovely RR

Its been many years since i did Baviaans. Time to visit again soon me thinks

Well done on the RR!! Cool videos which help to put things in perspective

Thanks for a great TR, its opened up many new ideas for travel in that Southern Cape area. I especially appreciate the trip route map for each day traveled, a great idea. Well done for travelling in the heat of summer !

I wish the makers of bikers clothing would consider that here in Africa, light coloured clothing is so much more practical and cooler. We are (I feel) always subjected to clothing made using colours and materials that are suitable for colder northern hemisphere climates. Really - black outer clothing in this climate is crazy.
There's a market gap for someone. Nothing darker than khaki ! Yes it will show the dirt easier, but I would rather travel 10 degrees cooler than worry about some dirt that can be washed off.
My 2c worth !

I'm glad someone else can put it to good use. I know I'm useless with directions and route planning, so this is a record to myself as much as to anyone else.

Ja, that was a dumb idea hey.

I'm with you on this. I'd also rather look dirty than be cooked. But, as you noted, when out looking for biker kit, especially anything for ladies (rare as hens' teeth), you're stuck with the default black. My Richa kit currently consists of a ladies jacket and mens pants (couldn't find the ladies version for love or money).

Lekker RR soos gewoonlik Zanie, vertel asb oor julle fotos ? Gebruik jy GoPro plus iets anders ? Uitstekende fotos, dit voel of ek self daar langs pad staan.
Baie geluk ook met jou Rally 250. Baie veilige kilometers vir jou. :ricky:

:thumleft:
