Fog me, is that Sani's slippery brother?

This is why I ride bikes. This, right here, made my trip. Here, in a place like this, life suddenly made sense for a while.

Great story, nice pics, thanks.  Pity about MJ's MLOT, hope all is back to race ready real soon.
Ongeluksnek's Lesotho border closed some years back due to the lack of traffic, but the SA side is quite happy to run a slick operation for the 2 - 3 vehicles per day.  That black mud below the switchbacks is something else - down hill you can still "slide" down, but going up in the rain is sometimes impossible - many a trip has been abandoned here.

At least you guys have a reason to come back and complete the originally planned trip! :thumleft:

Great ride and lekker writing!  :thumleft:

I thought Michnus claims he "draf sy gat af"?  :peepwall:

Kaboef awesome RR you have a nice way of writing. The scenery unbeleivable. Those wild horses remind me of a similar trip did with three friends deep into the mountains in the Hogsback area.Seems like many wild horses about.I wonder where they come from.A theory is that during the Boer war some animals escaped or their riders got shot and they just did their own thing.
About the 1200 and my decisions for a new boney it makes you realise these big DS machines can go most places if ridden properly.
Yes that area must rate as one of the most beautiful in SA.

Thanks Kaboef!! On my list to do. Ek dink ek moet by Michnus gaan kuier :mwink:

Thanks for the RR. Helps with the cabin fever being stuck here in a box at work.

Bit of a hijack. The ONLY thing I found that always works for the visor that f#ks-up errhm I mean fog up.
Get a "FogCity" liner for the visor that fits on the inside. They make different shapes for different helmets. You can get one that gets a slight tint in the sun as well. Shoei has what they call the 'Pinlock system' that works on the same principle.

Yip, we wouldn't have been able to make it up Ongeluksnek, the mud would have had us spinning in one place on the slopes.
Maybe with a plastic bike that you can carry or push, but I doubt it. If its dry, it should be no more challenging than Sani Pass, Michnus said. But give it a bit of rain and it gets interesting!

I cant email the tracks to the guys that asked. My GPS and laptop dont communicate so well. Grey GPS.
Michnus or Metaljockey will be able to send the tracks on. We used MJ's GPS.

Thanks for the comments about the nice pics. But really, you have to try really hard to take bad pics of Lesotho.  :D

Wow, wow, wow ... stunning pics, especially  "on top of the world" and the wild horses.  Great RR ... thanx for sharing with us.

Great RR Kaboef....I really like that area.

Seriously nice - thanks for taking the time out to actually stop and take those stunning pics!

Amazing pics!  :thumleft:
Awesome RR! :thumleft:

I'm green with jealousy! Which we could pack and go like that! :notworthy:

Ah that was great to read!
thanks very much for the report kaboef
I liked your writing style and the pics

obviously I'm green with envy that I couldn't go along

:hello2: :hello2: :headbang:

It's a great short trip route, and for a WD bash a excellent venue!

Ongeluk's nek is the new Sani pass for d/S riders, Sanie is for the masses, Ongeluks nek for d/s riders, when dry, the scenery are just out of this world.

sheeez jy het n flair vir skryf.  ;)
