After spending a couple of hours exploring the area it was time to head back.

We went back through Thamatu Village, hit the dirt road past Sehlabathebe Park, past the China Shop, then about 10km along the road to Ramatselitso Pass where we torned off onto a track I discovered the first time I rode the area 10 years ago with my old mate @Outhere

And before we knew it we were back at the top of the pass back down into KZN, our short adventure had come to an end :(

Thanks for reading this far, apologies for all the pics which were actually taken by Ian, Hans, Bart and me, but used freely in this RR without their permission.

... my FB page with a video of the view over KZN Lesotho View

In hindsight I should have screamed something rudely inappropriate instead of holding my breath during that shoot Jon .... but there's always a next chance!

Thanks for the nice report, the pics will probably cause an avalanche of PMs to where & how etc.... Sani Pass manne, they smuggle cattle there too! :p

As I have recently spoken to @Pyscho Porra who made the mistake of buying a sidecar ...... ready when you are matey, but up Sani 'seblief, as by now it must be glaringly obvious I'm incapable of doing this type of ***** - on my also-sidecar I mean, so I'll bring something a tad more appropriate then (y)
You compile the route to there, much off samblief, and once in (or is that on?) Lesotho it's all off anyway 😋

Thanks for an excellent report and stunning pics Jon (y)

One day when I'm grown up I also want to do a ride with JonW.

Warning, Jon has a habit of wearing his visitors out.... but phone him?
Ask him to organize a ride (2 days please? Zingela or the like) and I'll be coming along then!
Got a bakkie4two, bike, time, wanderlust...... 😋

What a fantastic ride! @ianb great to see that you're still in good shape! I think last time I saw you was 2014, where you took me to Loteni. Was a nice ride.
Cheers, Hans
PS: My brother Martin has moved from Winterskloof to an old-age village near New Hannover

Wow Hans. So nice to see you active on Wilddogs. Please share your rides .The chaps will love your reports. I only have a KTM 790R and a 500 now.

@JonW sorry to barge in, but I couldn't resist after I recognized Ian :p

Hi Ian, I'm planning a longish tour end of April roundabout 6 weeks SA and LES. Will visit Martin in New Hanover and will pop in at your shop. I organised a 1-cyl. Ténéré.
Cheers, Hans

@JonW Could you kindly advise how you obtained permission to ride off track through Sehlabathebe National Park, being a UNESCO World Heritage Site?
I'm sure other riders would also like to be able to get such permission, sharing is caring!

Merv is that you?

You joined our forum specially for this?

You really are set on stalking me on social media, even after I blocked you on my FaceBook page :ROFLMAO:

As I said to you on faceBook, I have been riding on Track in sehlabathebe for the past 10 years with the full knowledge and consent with the authorities in charge of Sehlabathebe. They allow motorcyclists to ride in and out the main gate to the park, we have many times in the past stayed at accommodation in Sehlabathebe while riding our bikes and none of the park officials have ever even once indicated that motorcycles are not allowed in the park.

Now if you have a problem with this I suggest you take it up with the park officials in Sehlabathebe.

Hello Jon!
Thank you for a much more detailed reply, I will be sure to check with them.
I however do believe allowing bikes in and out of the main gate and to the lodge, is very different to riding anywhere within the park, onto Rhino Peak or anywhere else. I might try that next time I'm in Kruger, they allow 4x4s into the gate, so we'll take them anywhere in the park that looks cool that we're too lazy to walk to

Happy riding, and thanks for the ride report!

Enjoy freedom while you can . Bunny huggers should worry about pollution first . etc . And might as well ride where you want in Kruger because unfortunately under the beautiful soil is wealth wich our greedy politicians are itching to get their dirty hands on .!!! So unfortunately our grand kids won’t know it like it is !!!!
