Had a bit of a run-in with a Yaris yesterday. Yaris driver crossed centre line of the road as if to turn right into a side street. There being enough space I continued straight past, on his left. Of course, just as I was longside the moegoe turned left...
Bent my brake lever, bruised my right foot - and almost took off his front bumper.
Then scared the shit out of the laaitie when I (verbally) vented my fury at him - his most repeated phrases for the first 30 seconds were "I'm sorry" and "Please don't hit me!". Almost laughed at the latter - I've never raised my hand in anger against anyone! Guess a hyped/adrenalised biker in full kit with a dark-visored helmet swinging from his hand can be a bit intimidating...
My thoughts just prior to the collision were "Typical, no indicators, but at least he's showing some consideration by moving to the right for his turn to allow traffic behind him to continue".
My lesson(s) (re)learnt: They're out to get us; do not trust the cage-driver to do what is logical.
So, does anybody know where I can get a Funduro brake lever? Looking for second-hand parts/scrap dealers in the Boland/Cape Town area.
Although I did get the lad's details and report the incident to the police I'm not going to hold my breath that all is miraculously and easily settled... As the scoot is my only transport I'd rather get it back to scratch soonest than wait forever.
