I guess we'll have to organise an open ride again soon... but with the dust on the canal routes, we'll have to split the groups up... find at least 3 ride leaders, and run a hell fast ride, a good ride, and an easy ride... or something like that...
All meet at Beestekraal for lunch and then the survivors ride to the rock....
How's that sound... mmmmmm
Fast group does Breeds, Western Canals and over into eastern canals...
Good ride does Eastern and far eastern canals...
Slow group does eastern canals....
Hey, this we can do... make a serious day of it... maybe in June sometime...
What say you lot?
Mark can lead the Bullet Group.
We'll need others to lead the other 2 groups.... preferable 2 competent riders per group (navigation wise)
Then plan the routes allowing for the speed of the group and the number of stops needed for rider ability... so we all meet at Beestekraal at about 12.30... that should not be too difficult! Beestekraal are doing a buffet brunch for us @R65 per head. That will give us the quickest service, as they are not known for hi-speed burger making! ;D All ok with this?
That should give us time to still get most the guys to the rock! There will probably be plenty rock virgins... so I guess we'll have to schlep a few bottles of bubbly to crack!
UPDATE: Levels for the rides:
Slow ride... New riders and those that really want to dawdle along, stop for pics lots, smoke breaks, that sort of thing... no pressure at all... slowest rider dictates pace.
Medium Ride: Those that have done some form of training or can comfortably cruise along on dirt between 60 and 80 km/h, need less rest breaks, want to enjoy a day out with friends without pressure on pace...
Bullet Ride: Those with a loose screw... have some off-road experience... can maintain a relentless pace for an hour at a time (Mark needs a smoke about every hour), really want to cover ground during a day's ride!
MEETING SPOT:
ADA has offered us their venue as a meet spot! There will be coffee/tea available. It is perfect for us as we can then all go our ways easily from there...
Thanks Heine! ;D
See attached Map!
ADA meeting place - Coordinates - S25.81680 E27.83232
So, if everyone arrives after 7am and before 8am... there will be time for chatting and coffee!
Other Meeting spots:
Jhb Pickup spot: BP Station - 4-ways off William Nichol: 7:15 for 7:30
Pic below is for the GOOD ride, and the first part of the SLOW ride.
