Here is a question for you technical guru's

Sometimes when changing gears the throw is extremely short, other times it seems to be a "Double throw" and then you get the normal throw between gears.

I have noticed that I get the short throw when I drive like a granny, and shift between 2500 and 3500 RPM. I am aware of the short throw, so use a bit more patience with the shift, this gives me a feeling of a double thow, (click, in gear, click/clunck, really in gear)

My question is, why do I get the short throw? have the gears meshed properly, and will there be any damage? The gears don't drop out (False nuteral) and it not restricted to any particular gear ratio.
