Gearing with boots?

So what is the secret regarding riding with proper offload boots?

I'm use to normal hiking boots and decided to get a decent set of boots but now I struggle my ass of changing gears and especially braking, cant get my foot bent up high enough to step down on the brake and can't adjust the brake lever.

Please, shoot with tips.
