A friend of mine is considering getting a bike for the 1st time. He has also never ridden a bike before. His heart is telling him to buy a HD. The HD he is looking at is a 300kg 1200cc beast. He will mostly ride weekends and not commute with the bike.
But seeing that he has never ridden, learning on a smaller bike is probably a better idea. This will allow him to not feel bad if he drops it. Also see if he likes riding without having to shell out R125K+. So then once he has the hang of it he can sell it and get the big one.
My thoughts are Suzuki DRZ400 / XT350. Any other recommendations? Any of you have something suitable for sale in CPT for a good price? Needs to be reliable and not have any mechanical issues.
