At the last Giro dei Canali Malgat mentioned that there were a few more canal roads up North-east of Beestekraal that we did not do.
Also had a chat with him and a few other Dogs Fri evening re Jericho rock.
Plan is starting to form of a ride that:-
Start at Harties
Along bits of the West Canal road (west canal is marked in red on map).
Up north of Beestekraal. Over the R511 to the East.
Along game reserves and other canals.
To the rock of Jericho (I would like to give it a go - easy route up rock has been done at least twice on KLEs - so why not by an old timer like me??)
Back to Beestekraal & home.
Problem is most of the plan is unchartered territory for me ( pardon the bad pun! - my last name is "Charter", geddit? geddit?) - so I am on the scrounge for tracks from the area so I can start putting a route together.
I have only done a bit of the West canals (brown on map) and nothing North of beestekraal. Have a track to the rock from the Red Route guys (
Any rideable tracks in the area would be appreciated. I know Zerc and Splash did some on the way back from the last Giro.
Malgat is keen to do this weekend (1 Jun) - I am in KZN this week but should be back by Sunday.
If too soon to get planned, or a conflict, we can delay.
