So a Bike Trip doesnt need to be 20,000 km's with gear and all trekking through Africa, it can also just be two friends grabbing their stallions and go exploring the areas around them to try and find nice routes.

What we found was more than just nice....

We left Shell at 09:20 Saturday morning and head for Grabouw, went over Sir Lowries Pass and turned left just as you go over the mountain.

We found a small tarmac trail there which had plenty of dirt roads veining out of it so we just took random dirt roads to see where they all lead.

Thus I do not have a full report as we did not really know where we were going most of the time, but I can tell you the roads were awesome to ride, not very difficult or technical and will suite most riders. I'm a beginner and for me it was very manageable, however I will NOT recommend pillions.

Here is my short video edit of the route, enjoy!

nice vid see You ous even had some two legged wild life running around there.

Hey guys. This is the Grabouw Nature Reserve and bikes aren't allowed in here. It is a hiking and mountain biking area.

There are some trails that people have permission for, but if you just go in the area and ride, they will outright ban bikes in all parts.  :'(

They should put up signs then to inform people. We went off of the tarmac and onto gravel with no signs indicating that bikes are not allowed there. The Xterra event was on and even the Marshalls didn't give us any issues.

Nevertheless I would rather not share the route then as I am not one to oppose conservation, I just think the authorities at play here should step up and make it clear that bikes are not allowed.

Go try the Grabouw 4x4 route. Just get permission first.

I think the gate is at Eikenhof dam.
