On the way to Malealea we filled up at Mafeteng and chowed on the usual local russian and slap chips
Got refuelled by a lady wearing a St Andrews private school jersey (Grahamstown) :lol8:
After that we rode some stunning roads to Malealea...and the 2nd puncture of the trip was to Bells Anglels XT, it was a slow puncre 37kms before the lodge so we pumped and rode, pumped and rode until Malealea
Ive been past Malealea a few times but this was the 1st time staying and we were very impressed, lovely pub, cold beers and HOT foreigners! :ricky:
Probably there to sample some of the local delicacies
Like you say - nice pub!
That Malealea rd out of the valley back up the ridge is a tit road. :thumleft:
Kierie and me did it the other direction going to Malealea from the North when we went down to the Transkei bash

After pinching all but one of the 17" rear tubes and snapping the Mitas bead we headed out on Friday morning to ride a favourite of mine and thats Sebelekoane Pass
Halfway up on a switchback we meet a very relieved minister in a Toyota Corrolla stuck properly
We had to manouvre the bikes past him and then I got into the drivers seat and we carried/turned/15 point turned the car to face back down and sent the grateful man on his way

Soon to be known to him as The God Helped Me Pass ... after the Greyhound Angels came to the rescue  :imaposer:  Later on we came across his disciple in a 4 times 4 coming to look for him ... the bottom part of the pass has been manicured and is better than the average suburban tar road but soon deteriorates. They are slowly working from both ends and when they meet this route will be a veritable dirt highway ... well for a short time anyway.

Hit the nail on the head! :'(

On the subject of delicacies the Little Rock 'catering' was unimaginative (and I am being diplomatic). Steak in the braaipacks both nights was C-Grade at best and as tough as a Mitas 4 ply side wall  :-\  At least the beer was cold and kakpraatery flowed easily.

Heading home on Sunday we slabbed all the way to almost Queenstown where we turned off onto the dirt once again and headed through Sterkstroom to Bouwers FIL very lovely Tala Lodge where we were spoilt to a game drive, tender Eland steak and very spacious lodgings! :thumleft:

Was magnificent 5 Star accommodation and hospitality - Thanks again Alj. Live GP Racing and then game drive - impressive, viewing more than 1000 head of game on the enormous tract of land.

The following morning we had a lovely chilled entirely dirt ride back home...2 more punctures and a troublesome XT sidestand switch were todays challenges :lol8:
