Grizz, the mrs and I did a solo ride through the TK from PE-Durban. We had a good experience and could not understand the nay-sayers view. That being said, the speed in parts of the TK must be slower than normal, when approaching settlements and towns, always look for animals and idiots. If you ride sensibly you will have a great time. The people and even the Taxi's are friendly, we spoke to a couple of them on the road and if you wave and smile, they are very friendly.

This was our experience, we can chat when you get to PE or PM me, happy to share our experience of the TK, it was good. :thumleft:

(PS: we were on the Triumph doing a road trip - tar only N2, at the time)

I GIVE YOU A MAN WITH A MOERSE HORING

The last time I saw him Nicola and I slept in this caravan I had built for us, and he slept on a matress in the back of my VW Touran.

Had a long chat with my brother last night and in the end decided to keep our good memories from 40 years ago in place. When we used to go there, there was one brick built house and a rondawel. Long grass and foot paths. My mum managed to hit my dads Ford Corsair's bonnet with a .22 one night when the grown ups went shooting rabbits for the pot in the cars headlights..... Yep, whisky and "bok koors" can do that to you.

We decided the inland route and then to drop down to Camperdown where they lived when mum died and then down to Dirty Boy in Durban would be great new memories.

Now just need to pre-book at Mountain Shadows Hotel at Elliot, then we will be sorted for accomodation on this trip.

Goeie keuse vir blyplek. Julle sal dit moerse geniet.

As julle lus het vir bietjie grondpad ry soontoe gaan ek vir jull 'n mooi een gee.

I will have you know that I am the guy who took a R1100R on Avon Azaros over Zuurberg years ago......

I would be game, but it is not my bike, its an unknown quantity, and I do not want to break my brother, his bike or myself or Mavericks bike.

I am sure we will do just fine with the roads we will be on.

I designed some stickers a while ago and ordered them.

Today they came in the post.... I am pleased.

The idea is to stick them in random places during this ride and to feature the sticker in some of the pics, a bit like "photo bombing"

So look out where we go, it may just be on your front door.

In other  news.......

Some of you probably know that I am a real Boerseun/Redneck at heart, so I have always wanted another bakkie/pickup, ever since having one as a student.

Well, it has started.

Yesterday, Myrtle the 1956 Ford Anglia 100E sold to a young petrol head named Dan.
It left me with an emotional wife and feeling like I shot Bambi.

Next up is getting the Transit ready for selling too.

With one car out the garage, it meant that I could empty, then rearrange the contents of the garage, which I did today.

This was the final swansong for the Anglia, hopefully the Transit will follow soon and then set us up to find a Chevy pickup truck.

A very happy family.

It is great to have a 13 year old petrol head buy the car as it gives me hope for the future of our hobby.

DAN THE MAN......

He wanted to ride home in the Anglia on the back of the trailer.
I suspect he would have loved to have taken a sleeping bag into the garage and slept n her last night.

Following the SVT Lightening to her new home where she will be sharing the garage with a Model T Roadster and a white Plymouth Roadrunner

Once I reversed the bus out the garage it was much easier to rearrange everything.

Now just need to sell and then start all over again, looking for a Chevy Pickup truck.

Hoping to get an early 60's Chevy C10 Short Fleetside truck.

This is out of my league, but would love something like this.

Something like this would be cool too, but I do not really want a Stepside.
