On Friday night a mate called, saying he just picked up a biker next to the highway. His engine locked up apparently...
So I picked him up and took the bike to my grudge. And Saturday was spent opening up the motor to check wazzup. One of the brass inserts in the airbox had come loose and fell in the the motor, breaking a valve on it's way down.
This is the damage
I searched Google and all the forums I know for aftermarket pistons, but nothing, nada, forkol..... Seems only BMW supplies pistons for these bikes. I will have the head checked out by my engineering connection to see if it can be saved/rebuilt. Otherwise this is going to be EXPENSIVE!!!!
Check the bolt on the top left-hand side of your airbox! If it's gone, whip that box off and make sure the fitting didn't fall in. Riaan was so pissed off, he chucked the insert away before I could grab a pic. It's a little cylinder, 12x8mm that will ruin your engine.
