GSA 1200 2008 model oil level sensor

my oil can on the cluster comes on every now and then. when i check the oil level is perfect. i suspect that my level sensor is faulty. Anyone that has one and is willing to let me try it to see if mine is buggered will be appreciated.

once fault finding done ill buy a new one from BMW. They quite pricey so dont want to go and buy if not needed.
