GTFO JHB - Mahai camping

Needed to get out of The Big Smoke and what better destination than the 'Berg for a spot of camping. Bunked a Fri afternoon and tried to take as many dirt bits as possible to get there
1st stretch was to ride as far as Frankfort and camp over
Slabbed some back roads to Deneysville and then through Oranjeville.
This is what happens when you stop at the motorcycle museum for a quick beer and attempt selfie without paying proper attention to where you have parked your bike

Sidestand broke through thin crust and sank all the way into the mush underneath

Anyways...
Vaal was really low

But some great roads from there to Frankfort

I had seen a sign from the tar road for camping at Kasteelkop on a previous ride to Clarens on my Brut so we headed that way
...only to discover that they don't do walk ins . Meh!
Meant we had to ride on and find something else

Which wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Found a great spot outside Reitz. Bassfeather

Early start next morning and didn't take many pics

Mahai camp wa awesome but they have had to chop down a whole lot of their ancient pine trees that really made this spot special

All too soon it was time to head home

Back of Sterkfontein... through Golden Gate...Clarens for lunch ...and the back to JHB via Fouriesburg, Lindley, Heilbron
