Helderberg Yamaha's Reccie Ride through Potatsvlei

We all met at the Wynlands Engin Filling Station on the N1.
After a quick breakfast all the bikes left , leaving Ktm kev and myself for a memorable ride.

I got permission from the farmer and we hit the Very worn out farm road , mud , rivers and rocks were the order of the day.
There is nothing better than being in the mountains , on a two  spoor that very few have been on for a long time.
Although the gps said we were on the right route , it felt like we were heading in the wrong direction.

I have secured permission to return there and do the route again.
It was going to be part of the Yamaha Helderberg ride up to the XT Bash , but its along way and the roads were kak muddy,
If it doesnt rain again , we will make it part of the route .
If Ktm kev can make it up the route with his Ktm 990 and his new 42 L petrol tank , then it will be a breeze for the XT1200Z's that are coming with us.
Buff said I always make interesting rides , this ones for u buff !

What a lekker road we found

Im sure thats the same route we did last weekend. Did not realize we need permission to go through there. Will keep that in mind for future visits.

you dont need prmission for potatsriver , only the farm we went through over yhe mountain. But there were no tracks where we rode

Okay, now you've got my attention ;D

The only thing that worries me is ground clearance on the big white whale. Of that's okay and no risk of a lost sump then I'm keen, although I do have a bash plate ;D

On a cool but sunny day



My Favourite weapon of choice the XT660Z Tenere



In the background , is a new Escom Electrical Distribution Station , Smack in the Karoo , STRANGE ???

And after some knarly roads , streams and rocky up hills we get to the last gate and just 3km down the other side , the N1 near Touwesriver







After a quick bite in Touwesriver , we did the other Oubergpass , Montague , Robertsen , Elandie rd , but could not get over the Breede river

Hi Andy dit lyk na n'lekke pad wou julle nog van Robertson se kant af kom soek het by Ou berg maar die werk het weer gewen ,maar daar sal n' volgende keer wees. Dankie vir die lekke RR.
