Help with Google Earth

I planned a nice route up over the Magalies mountains using Google Earth, I then converted the kmz file to gdb file using wingdb (thanks Gundagunda  :thumleft.

Small problem though .. we got stuck at a gate that was locked. Had to abbort and find alternative route. Luckilly didn't have too far to go back to main road. How can I avoid this when maping a track ?

Also I use the free Google earth that has old photos, do I have to buy newer version?
