High Tea in the Tatras

After another day's rest, it was out into the mountains again.

I didn't take many pics but it was quite busy out there. A lot of locals on the track but they slowly thinned out the higher we climbed. It took a couple hours of rock-hopping to reach this waterfall.

Finally, I saw some local life ..................... in the distance .................  :imaposer:

Unfortunately, this is where things took a turn for the worse  (so no more pics). What started as a niggling pain in the outside of my knee a day or so ago, soon started to hurt. We walked past the wreck of a rescue helicopter that had crashed back in the 70s, which gave me a few goosebumps, but I was still ok.

An hour from the summit, I could see it, I had to stop and rest my knee. That was a mistake. After resting for a few minutes, I could hardly stand. What started as a little pain was now knifing me from my hip to ankle.

I turned around .................

Now that was a first for me. I can't think of any time, ever, where I've done that. I'm normally the one saying "****-it, let's carry on, we'll be fine", but today it was my turn to throw in the flag.

I had a long slog back down, having to climb down using hands and sliding on my arse. No dignity but at least we were in the middle of nowhere ............ no-one to see

Anyway, after much time and a few pain killers, I hobbled back home for a well-deserved cup of tea.

And, that, I'm afraid, was the end of my High Tea in the Tatras.

However .............................................. I was soon to be re-united with my 950 in the UK ................................  TET was calling ................  :thumleft: 8)

Yeah, crap pics of crap views...... but carry on, it's good enough for crap like us  ;)
Oh, and don't change that crap camera, just keep the crap operator lubed well.

PS(sst): when you plan a riding tour next year (summer's almost over now...) then holler please?
May join you if I may, and perhaps we then can lean jointly harder on [member=9492]Xpat[/member] to join us?

Much kudos that you walked up there 3 times in 4 days...!! No wonder the poor knee caved in. Hope it's good now.

We were lucky in Zakopane, it was early April, only the start of the tourist season in Europe but we had unseasonably beautiful weather.
