So this evening I found out who is going to be teaming up with me - Phillip Groenewald from George. Our paths have crossed once when I came across him and friends by the side of the road out of fuel, but other than that we're strangers. It's the same for everyone else though.
They say they picked the teams randomly, I don't believe a word of it. It's too even.
None of us know what we are going to have to do over the next 10 days.... jeez, 10 days!? I'm pretty sure we will get to see the best and worst sides of ourselves at some stage. Hopefully more of the former than the latter.
Think of this a bit like survivor, just that no-one gets voted off, we score points for whatever we are going to have to do. Nevertheless, I have no doubt it's going to be tough. However, one instant way to be booted off, is to break the bike through mishandling.
I'm still being plagued by the squirts, (before I left I ate some dodgy chicken) it's a concern as we have no showers and rudimentary toilets. I think this bout is from the tap water in Windhoek. Hopefully I get to someplace soon for a good scrub. Till then, it's Imodium and fastidious hands.
We head next to Opuwo. And after that, Epupa.
Tomorrow I get to taste the DCT version. The bikes finally have been personalized. It looks brilliant.
Once I have better reception, there will be some great pics and videos.
Right, bed time. Thanks for all the well wishes. It's great to share this great adventure.
If you go to the quest adventure website it will have all the other pairs in there. Also, they will be posting a video of the day. I am the only one with the dayglo yellow helmet.
