Seems to be a fair bike snatching going on I see. Guess this question is posed at the technical guys who know & potential/current bike thieves
- I know this question is dependant on a multitude of variables e.g. make, model, alarm, immobilizer and probably a whole lot more, but is stealing a modern bike by todays standards that easy?
- Are most stolen by trailering them away?
- Are they then stripped to get running or just stripped for parts?
- Where do these parts and or bikes end up? SA, over the border, on the shelf in 2nd hand places?
- is stealing a bike that much easier than a car?
- Any ideas of how many bikes are stolen annually in SA? Is it proportionately the same as cars perhaps? Not sure anyone is in the insurance game and can give stats?
- What are the best methods of protecting one's bike, other than locking it in your garage and never riding it.... then again is that safe nowadays anyway?
