How to power an electrical system for troubleshooting purposes?

Hi Guys, I need to check why the one rear indicator isn't working on my XR400. I suspect a broken wire on the loom for the rear cluster. For troubleshooting purposes, how would one go about powering the electric system without starting the motor? I do have access to a 12V battery.
