Hydraulic Clutch internals query

Oh learned ones...

I would like somebody to confirm or correct my understanding of a hydraulic clutch master cylinders internal configuration.
As I understand the hyd clutch MC, in the relaxed lever position, an internal spring has pushed the piston and seal out. This will expose the reservoir directly to the fluid in front of the piston.
Then, when the lever is actuated, the piston and seal moves, isolates the path back to the reservoir and the pressure starts to build as it has nowhere to escape. In response, the slave piston moves at the other end.

The important part of the query, is the path to the reservoir when the lever is relaxed. This is why, if u feed pressure via the bleed nipple, backwards, it fills up the reservoir not so?
