Bought my bike in 05, and it always idled at 750-1000rpm depending on the heat and or length of trip.
2 months ago, I heard of Corrie Venter in Wilderness who is an airhead fundi
( they said ) who used to use airhead engines in small aircraft. As I was worried about my timing, as well as the front wheel bearings,I took my bike to him. His workshop projects is another story for another time.
I collected my bike and after riding it back to George, it was idling at +-500-600 rpm.
I have found that when I ride 4 km in the morning, to my rented house and flat in lower George, the revs are even lower than 500 and stays idling while I open the gates on the side stand, but when I go on a trip and the engine heats up properly, the revs revert to 750 to below 1000. Since his touch, it is also much smoother and has more torque in the higher gears.
Have I been missing out all these years ?
