I decided to do a ride out to Impendle on Sunday as I hadn't done that route for a while.

Checked the Ride Reports to look when last I was there and couldn't believe it was 4 years ago:

Anyway, decided it was definitely time to do it again so we met at 07h00 at XWays in Hilton.

Headed straight out to Impendle after 60 odd km through some nice green midlands countryside.

First stop was for some fuel, as we wouldn't be seeing a fuel station for a while

Thanks for sharing, Jon. It was a lovely day out in KZN today

What would one call it if someone posts several pics of a well known personality ( as opposed to name dropping)  :laughing4:

And then on to the rocky Impendle Technical section, which heads along the contour of the mountain and down to the Umkomaas River and which in the past has been the cause of a few broken bikes and dehydrated riders.

Strangely enough this section was pretty easy, the rocks were all still there, but there was a definite and obvious line to get through everything. Oh well, no point complaining I guess, but I did feel a bit cheated at the end.

And after the rocks, some rest in the shade where we waited for the group that had opted to go around this bit.

And then we met up with the Lotheni Road where we turned right and headed for Nottingham Road Hotel where the beers were cold and the burgers good as ever.

Ja well spotted Frank, Rod Gray is an absolute legend

The scenery and the faces bring back lots of memories Jon, especially the long wait under the tree by the bridge at the bottom, Alf was on your first Impendle technical too.

A few of the same faces and scenery, but like I said above, the rocks were a non-event.

Great Ride JonW will post some photos.

Some Pics I took at the dreaded Impendle Rocky Hill which claimed a few. Was great to have Alfie join us for the ride. Thanks to JonW for organizing the ride.

I think the caliber of riders and choice bikes and tyres had something to do with the ease that the rocky paths were dealt with

Always a pleasure to ride in that area.
