Today I scored a bike. Some may remember that my then Vice were taken out on the M7 by a car that rolled over the embankment and barrier and landed smack in the middle of the road, right in front of him.
He was riding the wife's ER6F at the time, and the front of the bike is pretty smashed up. She wanted nothing to do with the bike and immediately told me to take it and do with it whatever I wanted.
I said NO, calm down first, lets see of you can do a 3rd party claim from the okes insurance. Well many months later and lots of fighting, including the ombudsman, there will be no settlement. Reason given, is that the chap reckons a truck forced him out of his lane, which caused him to lose control around the bend and roll into oncoming traffic. So in essence, go find the imaginary truck and ask him to pay for the damage !!! :dousing:
So she scrapped the bike and said now do with it what you want. She is going to give me the papers and then I can register it as a rebuild once it is fixed.
Luckily the frame is not bent. So I need :
Forks
Rim
Radiator
Headlight
Manifold
Petrol tank
Handlebars
I wont be doing a back to original F, ie full fairing, rather go streetfighter look.
This will be my project for the year, finances is tight so will do what I can, when I can. Target is to have it ready for the laaitie on his 18th b/day Feb 2015.
So far all I have done is rip of all the bits of fairing, which was still on the bike.
Next to get a front end so that bike is able to be moved and then the rest.
Engine is 100% and starts as it is standing there
