Hi all, In the last week I have noticed a strange "notchy" feeling to the steering on my KLR.
First time I felt it was as I was pushing the bike out the gate and very briefly it felt as if the steering was locked. I needed more effort than usual to steer but as soon as I turned it a little the feeling disappeared. Once on the road it seemed fine but after a little while It felt tighter than it should but after a little turn it was fine. All this happened after I changed to the Dunlop D606 tire and added the Hand Guards. I'm sure these are just coincidence.
After some reeding it seems to point to the Steering Head Adjustment setting being too tight. But what I find funny is that its not tight all the time it seems to be random.
Had the front wheel off the ground today and felt the amount of play on the steering and it seems correct but every now and then as you turn from side to side there is a very subtle notchy feeling.
Faulty or damaged bearings of just too tight?
Jules
