It's a 4x4 thing for me as well. Any low traction, or floatation issues, I stop and deflate. Makes huge difference.

It was part of the BMW bike training as well. Took me about 1 min to drop the front to 1, and the back to 1.2. Another 2 minutes to pump them up again once we were back on the tar. No sweat.
