KTM 950 - Carb heaters (necessary or not?)

Is it really necessary to have carb heaters in our climate?  ???

The reason I am asking is because I want to use the ACC2 connectors for a Hella socket and thus will have to disconnect the carb heaters as they are connected to ACC2.

Secondly, can I remove the heaters from the carb body altogether?
