Grey Hound
I am selling my wide luggage plate that i had imported from the UK.
Cost me R1500 landed.
Im selling for R1000.
Its far superior to any OEM ones you get or other local manufacturers.
Its super lightweight as well.
MATERIAL USED
They are made from extremely high quality aluminium tooling plate. This specialised material is significantly better than the standard aluminium most manufacturers use. It has a higher mechanical strength, greater corrosion resistance, and is precision ground on both faces to give it extremely flat and smooth surfaces.
We know of no other manufacturer in the world that uses this high quality material for their luggage plates.
MACHINING PROCESS
We machine these plates on CNC milling machines. Removing material for weight saving and machining out slots for luggage straps and loops. The machining process is accurate to a fraction of a millimetre.
Every cut face is then chamfered top and bottom (see photos), to make sure there are no sharp edges that might cause damage to straps.
DIMENSIONS
The plates measure 360mm in width (across the bike) and 300mm long (front to back). They are 6mm thick.
ANODISED FINISH
We offer these plates in natural silver aluminium, and with a black hard anodised finish. The images above show both options. Hard anodising is just about the highest quality and most durable finish you can give aluminium.
99% of anodised motorcycle accessories you see are given what's known as a decorative anodising finish. This, as the name implies, is primarily for show. Hard anodising however is an industrial grade of protection, that is much deeper. Even if the surface does get scratched, it's unlikely to get through the anodising depth.
We make these luggage plates right here in the UK.
