Metzeler Karoo 3 or Heidenau k60

I am close to replacing tires on my bike and can not choose between Metzeler Karoo 3 and Heidenau K60's. I have no experience with these tires and are getting quite mixed opinions about them both. I like the Karoo 3's as it is rated a 70/30 tire which is about the split of on and off road riding I do but have heard these tires don't give the miles that you can expect from Heidenau. On the other hand I've been told that Heidenau K60's are like riding on soap when you get caught in the rain? Any feedback for a confused rider will help a lot.
