So this morning I went on a ride by myself, basically with 2 objectives, firstly to check out a new section of the route that I want to use for our upcoming Bundu Bash ride on the 12th of December, and secondly, while I was in the area, I wanted to check out a track i had plotted on Google earth and see if I was able to follow it.

The main problem was the track crossed the Rietvlei and the Mooi Rivers so I was not sure if that would work out.

On GE it looked OK:

After an earlyish start, headed out through the Karkloof.

Damn it was looking nice and green after a couple of weeks of rain.

After leaving the Karkloof i got to the proper dry thornveld country north of Rietvlei.

Some great riding to be had here, headed down a rocky track towards the Rietvlei river

Eventually got to the place on the river where I was hoping it would be possible to cross.

Unfortunately no luck. The river was much too deep to try get across with my bike.

Maybe if I had come before the rains started I might have been more succesfull, but no way was I getting across today. Oh well, nothing ventured nothing gained, at least I found some new tracks. Will have to come back next year before the rains.

Seems like there was a crossing just a little "up river", look like a nice rocky stretch going accross.
