Awesome RR JohnW,

Managed to run into Highsider on their trip and he mentioned you trip. Very well described and hats off, quite an accomplishment!!

Thanks man  :thumleft:

Was a heck of a lot of fun

Great trip and photos but doing the Ben 10 in one day is strongly discouraged by the founder of the challenge . Not that anyone will listen . Next will be who can do it the fastest ?

Really?

That must be why he has Stefan's video up on his Ben 10 Homepage.  :lamer:

The way I've understood the recommendation / suggestion of Trygve Roberts (having read his website yesterday) is to encourage participants to spend more time in the area to support the local economy. I didn't see it in any other light, though I do tend to agree that one should make a mini holiday of the whole experience, but that's the way I'd like to do it. It sure is a challenge to do it all in day, at least you might spend 2 nights in the area. So a mini boost for the locals.

I reckon you should set up a base time that others can try and aim for  :ricky:

Just do it

Thanks for the RR JonW.

Hats off to all who is doing it in 1 day - Respect!!

Lupela is a cool place.

Think I must do the challenge - as you said - Just Do It.

In all honesty, as long as you are a fairly capable rider, have good weather and a reliable bike, doing this ride in one day is not that difficult.

To be honest - I am looking at it, but I will take 4 days to do it as I want to take a lot of photos.  Just have to get the right friends to do it with.

My biggest worries are those switchbacks and the sand above Tiffendale and the steep downhills...........  Although it is paved, a downhill gives me the shakes  :lol8:

Well done Jon and Kevin! And thanks for the write-up and photies. Sixteen plus hours! Hectic! One you guys will always remember though.

PS, Was nice to see Kevin's face - it's been yonks since the last time I was privileged to eat Kevin and Sarah's dust (seem to recall a red GS then). They are the pin-up couple for pillioning on dirt...

[member=408]JonW[/member]  thanx this is the ride report that got me started with my own Ben10 trip.

Are these roads ride able in Jan Feb?

I'm not useless on dirt but dont want to go break a leg in the middle of nowhere with no cell reception as my trip will be a Solo one :ricky:

I did Sani in 2012 on my KLR and thought its a walk in the park >:D and I enjoyed [member=3430]Cracker[/member] black route through Lesotho with no falls

@Skeltonsc

January and February are a great time for this area, but it is the rainy season so you have to be careful, as rain will turn a normally easy dirt track into an impossibly slippery quagmire.

My advice is not to decide on the exact date that you want to do the ride. Rather identify a couple of weeks that are available to you and then close to the time watch the long term weather reports, and when you see 4 or 5 sunny days in a row then go for it.
