I don't think I need my Garmin anymore.

The main problem for me using the smaller Garmins (read Nuvi) is the fact that you cannot navigate tracks. I like to explore and sometimes there is no road. Planning a route where there is no road becomes a big problem if you cannot navigate tracks.

I came across a offline navigation program named OsmAnd. I took the plunge and with my previous trip I left the Garmin at home and used the phone for navigation. I was seriously impressed with the program and at R70 odd, what a bargain.

Got myself a waterproof cellphone holder from GPS4Africa
