Hi everyone
This week I fitted a new set of tyres to my Africa Twin, a set of Karoo 3. When I got home and had a closer look at the tyres I thought the shop had made a mistake. The back tyre had the tread pattern (almost an arrow head shape) facing forward, with the middle of the 'arrow' contacting the road first. The front was mounted in the opposite direction, with the middle of the arrow contacting the road after the outer ends. On closer inspection I saw that the tyres were in fact mounted correctly according to the directional arrow on the side wall.
So the question is why do the manufacturers design tyres to be mounted differently on the front and back of the bike and are all tyres manufactured like this or only dual purpose?
Some input from the dogs in the know will be welcome.
