Hi all,
At The HUBB forum, someone kindly brought this forum to my attention (see topic: https://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hubb/sub-saharan-africa/touring-south-africa-by-myself-41399 )
So before I start posting, I thought I'll introduce myself:
I'm Bas Lips from Schiedam (home of Ketel1) , the Netherlands
28 years and mad about biking ever since I first drive my sisters Puch Maxi moped when I was 15.
I have a Yamaha Thundercat YZF600R for about 3 years now. My first and only bike for now.
As I'm even more crazy about travelling, I read traveller stories/books every now and again. So I came across this ad in a bike mag about Kris Nijs.
A Belgium guy who travelled the world for 4 years on his PanEuropean. (see https://users.skynet.be/krispaneuropean.com/ )
Looking for a good start for travelling by bike by myself, I recently (3/4 weeks ago) got the idea to go to SA.
Adventures landscape, Africa and still develloped and accessible (because of GPS navigation availabilty and the languages) are all reasons I came up with South Africa.
So this is my first big trip on a bike (actually my second bike trip ever... ) and looking forward to it!
I'll start a new post for the trip I'm planning
