Normal VS MX helmet - Wind factor?

At some stage soon I will have to replace my helmet. At the moment I wear ear plugs on longer and faster rides to keep out the wind noise. The MX type helmet - those that are worn with goggles, looks like they will be a lot more noisy.
Am I right?
