Jake Gunn:

Up and coming blues rock musician playing gigs around Cape Town with fellow guitarist Devin Smith. Influences include The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Robert Johnson and Bob Marley. First album Triple Jack now available! Watch this space...

"Springing from the backwaters of Brackenfell with the hair of Robert Plant, the skill of boy Clapton and the voice of a morning-afternight-before Mark Knopfler, Gunn is a revelation." -Alice Inggs, Rolling Stone South Africa

Jake Gunn is an up and coming blues rock musician hailing from the northern suburbs of Cape Town. After discovering rock ‘n roll at a young age, he was inspired to start pla...ying guitar and worked tirelessly to improve his skill. This finally led to him joining the Lyzyrd Kyngs (Piet Botha & Akkedis) in 2010. He spent a year under the mentorship of these veteran musicians, before teaming up with the talented young guitarist Devin Smith.

Sharing a love of music and complementing each other’s guitar playing, they started doing gigs around Cape Town, followed by a tour up the coast. They later evolved into a full electric band after being joined by CJ Bergh on bass guitar and Allen Smith on drums. The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Robert Johnson, and Jack Hammer can be counted among their influences and their soulful brand of blues rock, infused with reggae, is well received by audiences.

The launch of Gunn’s first album Triple Jack, recorded in the winter of 2012, was met with great praise and a favourable review in Rolling Stone magazine. Containing a wide range of original songs, as well as one cover, the album showcases Gunn’s skill and multiple influences. It also contains the song “Radio Mojo” which was featured in the Rolling Stone Rock Chart of 19 January 2013.
Audiences can expect to hear material off the album as well as Gunn’s adaptations of songs from the likes of Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen. Performing either with Devin Smith, as an acoustic duo, or with the full band, Gunn’s music is bound to entertain and impress.

Johnathan Martin:

The 'Martin Brothers' are called that for a good reason. They are two blood brothers from Pretoria South Africa , namely 'Johnathan and Aidan Martin'.
These guys are guitar duo like no other, sounding like a mixture of Neil Young meets Ali Farka Toure meets Rory Gallagher. These guys have many influences, but make no mistake that you'll know a Martin brothers original when you hear it!

Between writing, recording and touring these brother from Pretoria are keeping themselves very busy. They are putting together a series of live recordings for an album ,because these brothers are at their best live, there is a high demand for a live recording for the audience to take home. They feed off each other’s raw energy and a wild, open air. Besides the upcoming live album Johnathan and Aidan are both working on side projects. A new studio album by Johnathan will be released in June 2013, making it his 3rd studio album. Previous albums, 'in my blood' and 'machete' were received with inspiring reviews and radio airplay, and the constant touring resulted in steady sales. Aidan martin will also be releasing a solo album , and his backing band consisting of Georgiades brothers Ben(bass) and Dave(drums) rock like no other trio in S.A. Aidan Martin trio have been blowing away festival goers around the country and abroad for 2 years now, namely 'oppikoppi, 'mielie pop' and many more.

Johnathan Martin has long been a respected musician on the local circuit . He has played for Jack Hammer for 10 years and toured the country as well as abroad constantly for 15 years respectively. He has also shared the stage with great South African legends like Vusi Mahlasela, the Blues Broers, Black Cat Bones and many many more.
He has played on countless compilations and played sessions since 1995.
Aidan martin has studied and toured abroad, and is a formidable musician in his own right. A master of slide, harmonica and mandolin make him a potent asset to any duo.
He has also shared the stage with greats like Albert Frost and Piet Botha.
