Friday 20th Feb
Finished packing after a log week, finally the day has arrived.
Unfortunately a bit of work got in the way and we ended up leaving late.
Only Paul and myself from PE. Work and possibility of rain kept other dogs away. :'(
Two of the guys expected from EL also stayed away due to weather forecast which fortunately was wrong again. :dousing:
Hit the tar From to East London. Serious head wind kept speed down and fuel consumption up.
About to leave Me on the red & Paul on the green KLR
On the road.
Overlooking the buffalo River in the buffalo pass.
The stuff you must walk through for the photo above. (I hope you appreciate the effort)
Arriving at Rene’s farm.
We got changed, explored a bit rode on the barge, braaied, had sum more beers, then went for a late night barge ride to try catch mullet for Renes fishing at Mazeppa the next day. Had a great time, getting to bed at ±24h00.
Lots of tame wild animals. (giraffe, various buck, ostriches, wildebeest, and lots of birds)
A shed to park the bikes and our stuff (and where we slept)
Cold beers
Excellent hospitality
The barge
Happy passengers / drivers
And more.
Thanks Rene for organising everything. Awesome stuff.
