Could the mechanics please give me a helping hand? I have a Honda gx 610 v twin welder/generator unit. Everytime I run the generator the level on the oil dipstick rises. To try and diagnose the problem I have bypassed the fuel pump and the oil level still rises and smells of Petrol. Please note that the Petrol seems to be running into the engine while the generator is running and not after as I have a tap on the Petrol tank that cuts off the fuel supply. I have checked that the tap works. There is also a small shut off solenoid on the bottom of the carb that is in working order. The carb is also new and on inspection all seems normal within and working as it should. This is as far as my mechanical knowledge goes. The motor sounds fine when running and is not smoking. I would say though that there is definitely a slight smell of Petrol in the air when the generator is running.
So the fuel is not getting into the sump when the motor is not running and it is also not leaking through the vacuum pump. The carb seems to be fine.
In my mind the fuel must be running through the carb and then not combusting and running down past the rings? What else could be the issue? Could the timing be slightly out? Any advice would be appreciated.
